The Redskins hosted the Eagles on Sunday night and once again the defense came to play. They were in position for a huge upset late in the game but Patrick Ramsey threw a pick into the Philly end zone with less than 2 minutes left in the game to douse that rally.
Washington’s defense is 6th in the league allowing less than 17 PPG ranking #3 against the pass and the run. This week Shawn Springs is out with a concussion but there are hopes in Redskin camp that LaVar Arrington will make his return today.
Things are so bad in the City by the Bay that Dennis Erickson wasn’t even granted the gratuitous “vote of confidence” by the owner or GM. In fact, the HC was instead given permission to talk to the folks at Ole Miss regarding their vacancy. He withdrew his name though and recommitted himself to the Niners. Translation: The Rebels didn’t want him.
SF won their 2nd game of the season last week at Arizona in OT and if the 31-28 OT final sounds familiar it should as they beat the Cards earlier this year by the same score following an OT. Ken Dorsey threw for 3 TD in the game and RB Maurice Hicks out of NC A&T actually ran for 139 yards on 34 carries.
